CERAMICS, BRICK & TILES

Question 1
Water enters the flat. Facade is made of facade brick.

Answer 1
Almost every brick is an extremely porous material and absorbs great quantities of water. Water from the brick passes through wall and enters the flat. The cause of humidity can also be badly made or ruined joints between bricks. Facade needs to be examined, new joints need to be made if necessary, and then whole facade should be conserved by using the product ECO IMPREGNIR S.

Question 2
The saltpeter appears on red facade brick.

Answer 2
Saltpeter on facade brick is the consequence of material salting out – soluble matter is being washed out from the brick with water. Salts are mechanically removed and/or washed with the cleaning products ECO RECEPT 01, ECO RECEPT 02 and water under pressure. After washing brick is protected with the products ECO IMPREGNIR K and ECO IMPREGNIR S or just with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S.

Question 3
Flat pointed brick facade is smeared with mortar and cement paint.

Answer 3
Stains of cement and mortar are removed with the cleaning and washing products ECO RECEPT 01, ECO RECEPT 02 and water under pressure. After cleaning the protection of facade with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S is recommended.

Question 4
Water passes through ceramic tiles on the terrace. I need good protection which would prevent water breakthrough without the need to remove the tiles.

Answer 4
The water penetrates due to damaged ceramic tiles and joints and/or their porosity. Damaged joints should be removed and new ones should be made. Cracked and broken tiles should be replaced. Penetration of water through joints and tiles is prevented, in both cases, by protecting terrace with the product ECO IMPREGNIR WN.

Question 5
Swimming pool loses water. The pool is coated with ceramic tiles.

Answer 5
Pools most often lose water due to mechanical damages of joints and/or ceramic tiles. Loss of water caused by porosity of joints and ceramics is possible, but in that case the losses are significantly smaller. Loss of water caused by material porosity is solved by coating the floor and walls of the pool with the product ECO IMPREGNIR WN in a few layers. Loss of water caused by damaged joints or ceramic tiles is solved by making new joints, most often of permanently elastic material, i.e. by replacing damaged tiles with new ones. After repairs, pool is conserved using the protection product ECO IMPREGNIR WN. ECO IMPREGNIR WN sustains the pressure of 80m water pillar (8bar) and it is medically valid.

Question 6
Despite regular maintenance ceramic tiles in the bathroom are covered with limescale.

Answer 6
Ceramic tiles in the bathroom are washed with the cleaning product ECO RECEPT 01 or ECO RECEPT 01mod and water. That way limescale deposit is removed. Protecting ceramics with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S prevents new limescale deposition and significantly facilitates maintenance.

Question 7
Ceramic tiles on the floor of bakery are smeared and stained.

Answer 7

Impurities of this kind can be removed from ceramics by using the cleaning product ECO RECEPT 02 and water. Protection, which is recommended and done with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S, is performed after cleaning.

Question 8
Facade brick is falling apart.

Answer 8
Facade brick which is seriously damaged is replaced with a new one. If the damages are only superficial, the brick is conserved (protected) with the products ECO IMPREGNIR K and ECO IMPREGNIR S or just the product ECO IMPREGNIR S.

Question 9
Facade of the building is made of old brick. The remains of old mortar need to be cleaned from the brick.

Answer 9
Larger parts of old mortar are carefully broken and cleaned mechanically. Stains and small parts of mortar that remain on the brick can be removed using the cleaning products ECO RECEPT 01, ECO RECEPT 02 and water under pressure.

Question 10
Inner walls of the restaurant, made of facade brick, are smudged a lot with smoke and grease. I want to clean them so that they would look like they used to.

Answer 10
Grease and soot on the walls can be removed with the cleaning product ECO RECEPT 02 and water. Protection of facade brick from new smudging is done using the product ECO IMPREGNIR S.

Question 11
Facade of the building is made of flat pointed brick. I am interested in the protection from smudging and graffiti writing.

Answer 11
Facade of flat pointed brick is protected from smudging and graffiti writing with the products ECO IMPREGNIR S and ECO IMPREGNIR A.

Question 12
There is moss, especially on the northern side of the roofing tiles.

Answer 12
Moss appears on the roofing tiles because of humidity. The northern side of the building is always the least lightened, roofing tiles on that side are the wettest and the conditions for the growth of moss are the best. Roofing tiles need to be cleaned using the detergent ECO RECEPT 02, which disintegrates organic substance, and water under pressure. After drying roofing tiles are conserved with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S. Such protected roofing tiles are waterproof and water impermeable, consequently there are no conditions for the appearance and growth of moss.

Question 13
Water passes through roofing tiles.

Answer 13
Built-in roofing tiles let the water penetrate because of mechanical damages and/or porosity. Damaged roofing tiles are replaced with the new ones, and then all roofing tiles are protected with the product ECO IMPREGNIR S.
The best results are achieved by protecting roofing tiles before they are set up, by the method of immersion in the product ECO IMPREGNIR K.

Question 14
New bricks that the yard is paved with are partially crumbling and peeling after the frost. Small pieces are falling off.

Answer 14
Every construction material, even the brick, becomes ruined under the influence of precipitation. Recently, this process has been significantly accelerated due to the air pollution (high concentration of CO2 - carbon-dioxide). Disintegration of brick is mostly caused by water, frost and CO2. The conservation of brick prevents the influence of these factors. The product ECO IMPREGNIR S is used for protection.
The best results are achieved by protecting the bricks before they are set up, by the method of immersion in the product ECO IMPREGNIR K

Question 15
House in Vojvodina was built out of bricks more than 100 years ago. Mortar fell off long time ago, and the bricks became “poor looking” by the time and eventually dilapidated, especially the part close to the ground. I want to make the house look like it used to.

Answer 15
Bricks used for building should be consolidated using the product ECO CONSOLID K. The product is poured in the holes that were previously drilled from the outer side of the house. The holes of 25-30mm in diameter are arranged in two (or more) lines on vertex of equilateral triangle with 15cm sides, and drilled at the angles of 45о so that they pass over the half of wall’s thickness and under the floor level (in foundation). If there is also a possibility to drill on the inner side of the house, holes on the outer and inner side are arranged crisscross. After the consolidation product has dried, preventing capillary humidity from the foundation is done. The product ECO IMPREGNIR K is poured into the already drilled holes until complete material saturation. After this product has dried, the holes are closed with waterproof mortar made with addition of 10% of the product ECO IMPREGNIR K (compared to the mass of binder: cement + lime). The outer and inner sides of the house are also plastered with the waterproof mortar.

Question 16
I protected facade bricks and roofing tiles with foreign products. However, it didn’t produce a desired result.

Answer 16
Products used for conservation – impregnation of any producer must possess the attest of our (Serbian) institution authorized to test those products. Test results point out to the quality of product. Based on received results, it is possible to predict what kind of affect the product would have during the application.
All our protection (conservation) products possess attests of authorized institutions. Acquired test results show that our products are of exceptional quality.

Question 17
Bricks imported from Belgium look magnificent while wet, when dry they change color (fade) and don’t fit in the surrounding. Which product should I use to cover the bricks so that they are protected, but always look as if they were wet?

Answer 17
By covering bricks with the product ECO IMPREGNIR ME (ME – Moisture Effect) exceptional material protection from the outside effects is achieved, while the emphasis is put on the color of material – it looks wet.

Question 18
Durability of the protection for bricks and roofing tiles.

Answer 18
